Thomas R. Gold-Grandview Cemetery Whitesboro, NY

      Thomas Ruggles Gold was born to Nov 4, 1764 to Mr. and Mrs. Hezekiah Gold in Cornwall, Connecticut. He graduated in 1786 from Yale College. Thomas R. Gold was united in marriage to Sarah Sill on Sept 17, 1787.     Thomas R. Gold and his family moved to Whitesboro, NY in 1792, where he took up the practice of law. When King Louis Phillipe of France was in the United States, Mr. Gold was his legal advisor.     Thomas R. Gold was in the NY State Senate for six years. He served his district in Congress for two terms. He also was US Government agent for the six nations for a number of years.     Thomas R. Gold passed away on Oct 25, 1827 and is buried in Grandview Cemetery in Whitesboro, NY.    

Arthur J. Armstrong

       Arthur J. Armstrong was born Dec 23, 1879 to Milton V. and Christine Lutz Armstong in Utica. He married Lillian Berry on Nov 4, 1908.     Arthur J. Armstong conducted the Hess and Armstrong Cigar Manufacturing Co. for several years. He was court attendant at the County Court House from 1942 to his death. He was a former Second Ward Supervisor.     Arthur J. Armstrong was center fielder for two years on the West End Baseball tame which was seldom beaten. Was on the All-Oneida team which won the Central NY Championship in 1906. He also competed with the following: Lowville Club; Richfield Springs Club; and the Courthouse and Democratic Squads.      Arthur J. Armstrong also played Hockey. He was the goalie and captain on the Usona and Lafayette Seven men hockey teams.     Arthur J. Armstrong passed away on Oct 19, 1957 and is buried in Plot 22A Lot 4227 at Forest Hill Cemetery.
