Charles W. Hackett
Charles W. Hackett was born in 1853 to Charles and Elizabeth Hackett. He graduated from Utica Business College. He was a clerk in the office of the Black River Railroad Company. He later succeeded his father as general freight agent. He later left the freight office and worked for the wholesale coal business R. Marcy and Co.
Charles W. Hackett was a member of various organizations and societies such as: the Masonic, Royal Arcanum; and the Odd Fellows.
Charles W. Hackett served on the Police and Fire Board; and the Utica School Board from 1884 (with an exception of two years) until his death. He was member of the Republican State Committee. He was Senator Platt's confidential men and first lieutenant. Mr. Hackett was recognized as head of the Republican Party of the State. His name had been mention as a future US Senator.
Charles W. Hackett passed away on April 16, 1898. He is buried in Plot 34 Lot 2721 of Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica.
