Arthur J. Sweet

     Arthur Jeremiah Sweet was born on Dec 20, 1879. He graduated from Cornell University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

    Arthur J. Sweet was a pioneer in street lighting. He served as lighting engineer for the Pennsylvania Turnpike. He also worked for various Westinghouse interests.

    Around 1941-42, Arthur J. Sweet joined the Civil Aeronautics Administration. He worked in the Technical Development Division. At the time of his death he was working on a new lighting system for landing Airplanes in bad weather.

    Arthur J. Sweet and his wife Dea had two sons: Hubert and Arthur Jr. 

    Arthur J. Sweet passed away on April 7, 1945 he is buried in the family lot at Forest Cemetery (Plot 33 Lot 2655)

       Arwed Retter was born July 6 (8?), 1847 in Stuttgart, Wurttenberg Germany. At age 15 moved to London. He moved to America at the age of 17. He settled for a short time in New York City.       Arwed Retter graduated from the Dental College of the University of Pennsylvania. He moved to Utica in 1878. He opened a practice there. Thomas McKeough

      Thomas Franklin McKeough was born May 17, 1860 to Patrick and Bridget in Utica. In 1881, graduated from Assumption Academy. He later attended a private technical school to be an engineer.      Thomas McKeough started working with Russell Wheeler, Son and Co. as a mechanical engineer. He later worked at Kernan Furnace Co for six years. Mr. McKeough left Utica and entered the plumbing and heating business in Syracuse, N.Y. In 1891, returned to Utica and became Chief Engineer for Utica Gas and Electric Co. In 1904 became general manager of the Utica Steam Engine and Boiler works. He was elected Secretary in 1906 and later became its president (was until his death).      One of Thomas F. Alexander Seward

      Alexander Seward was born on Nov 28, 1816 to Mr. and Mrs. Asahel Seward (who published Utica' first newspaper). He attended Utica Academy; Utica High School; and Cazenovia Seminary. He graduated from Hamilton College and Union College (1836).     Alexander Seward studied law with Joshua A. Spencer and Mann and Edmonds. in 1840, started practicing law. At the same time he was appointed examiner in chancery.     In 1843, Alexander Seward became editor and proprietor of the Daily Gazette. He was the head of the newspaper for nine years.
