      George Austin Clark was born Jul 21, 1826 in Sauquoit, NY to Chester D. and Hannah Avery Clark. His maternal grandfather Rev. David Avery was a noted chaplain of the American Revolution. He served from Bunker Hill to Yorktown. Rev. Avery assisted in funeral services of Gen. Warren.     George A. Clark attended local schools including Utica Academy. After leaving school he served as a clerk for five years in Dr. Peckham's Drug Store.     In 1849, George A. Clark went to California during the Gold Rush with a company of 32. He was a member of the Utica Mining Co. He worked on the north fork of the American River. He was quite successful. He returned to Utica in 1853.     When George A. Clark returned to Utica he started working at his father's store. They made and sold buckskin gloves and dealt in house furnishing goods. He later brought his father out.    Charles W. Hackett was born in 1853 to Charles and Elizabeth Hackett. He graduated from Utica Business College. He was a clerk in the office of the Black River Railroad Company. He later succeeded his father as general freight agent. He later left the freight office and worked for the wholesale coal business R. Marcy and Co.      Charles W. Hackett was a member of various organizations and societies such as: the Masonic, Royal Arcanum; and the Odd Fellows.     Charles W. Hackett served on the Police and Fire Board; and the Utica School Board from 1884 (with an exception of two years) until his death. He was member of the Republican State Committee. He was Senator Platt's confidential men and first lieutenant. Mr. Hackett was recognized as head of the Republican Party of the State. His name had been mention as a future US Senator.     Charles W. Hackett passed away on April 16, 1898. He is buried in Plot 34 Lot 2721 of Forest...

       Henry H. Fish was born in 1813 in Herkimer, NY. He moved to Utica during his boyhood. He was educated in the common schools of Utica.     After his school days were over Henry H. Fish got a job as a clerk in a dry goods store. Later he was selected by a number of the leading men engaged as forwarders in transporting merchandise on the canal to represent their interests in Albany.     In 1842, Henry H. Fish formed a partnership with Samuel Farwell in the forwarding business. He later withdrew from this partnership and became a partner with A.E. Culver. In 1851, he retired from that line of business and became General Manager and Treasurer of the Utica Gas Light Co. He extended the gas mains and improved the process of manufacturing.     In 1848, Henry H. Fish was elected as an alderman.        John A. Goodale was born Jan 8, 1828 in Watertown, NY to Dr. Reuben and Paulina Adams Goodale. He was educated at the Black River Institute. Mr. Goodale graduated from Hamilton College in 1848. After graduating he moved to Syracuse and get a job at a bank.     In 1854, John A. Goodale accepted a position at the Fort Stanwix Bank in Rome, NY. In 1857, he moved to Utica and was made a teller at the Bank of Utica. In 1866, he was made an assistant cashier, ten years later he was made cashier.      In 1861, John A. Goodale married Florence A. Rockwell. They had two sons and a daughter.     John A. Goodale was a member of the following organizations: Fort Schuyler Club and Oneida Historical Society.     John A. Goodale passed away on Oct 11, 1898. He is buried in Plot 32B Lot 1791 of Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica.

      David Jones was born in to David and Nancy Jones on Dec 13, 1831 in Radnorshire, South Wales. When he was 14 months old his family settled in New Hartford, NY. When he was bout 7 they moved to Utica. When he was 12 they moved to New York Mills, NY where he lived until he was 20.      David Jones moved back to Utica to learn the boat builder's trade with Dean and Penfield. Afterwards he moved to St. Louis where he finished learning the trade of carpenter and builder. He then went to Kansas where he was employed be the government in charge of the construction of Fort Riley and Fort Leavenworth. That was before Kansas was a state. He returned to St. Louis where he got a position as a master carpenter for a line of a passenger steamers.     In 1857, David Jones returned to Utica and entered the hardware business with Noble Hopkins.       John H. Douglass was born July 30, 1836 to John Dean Douglass. When he was about three years old the family moved to Cincinnati.     When John H. Douglass was not in school he assisted his uncle Stephen A. Perrine, who was an undertaker in Utica. Mr. Douglass was also a clerk in the Post Office. When his uncle moved to New York City he sold his business to John and to John H. Van Ness. The firm continued for 13 years before Mr. Van Ness moved west. John H. Douglass operated it until his death. He had charge of the burial of the inmates of the State Asylum. He took an active part organizing the New York State Undertaker's and Funeral Directors two years before his death. At the last meeting before his death he was elected president.     John H.    Dr. Frederick Lenggenhager was born in 1862 in Switzerland. He came to Utica as a boy. His father run a drug store and was a noted chemist.     Frederick Lenggenhager studied medicine for a year under Ex-Surgeon General William H. Watson before going to Ohio to study. He studied under one of the most distinguished surgeons of the west, Professor Snyder of Cleveland. in 1885, he graduated from Cleveland Homeopathic Hospital. Dr. Lenggenhager took the highest rank in the matter of scholarship ever attained at the institution.     After graduating Dr. Lenggenhager moved back to Utica. He was president of the Oneida County Homeopathic Medical Society. He read papers before the State Society.
